China launched military drills around Taiwan on August 19, 2023, as a “serious warning” to separatist forces and a show of strength against the United States. The drills involved 42 Chinese aircraft and eight ships, including destroyers, frigates, fast attack missile boats, fighters, early warning and jamming aircraft. Drills emphasize naval-air combat readiness, coordination, control operations, and anti-submarine tactics. China views Lai as a “practical worker for Taiwan independence” and accused him of “shamelessly” trying to "rely on the United States to seek independence". Taiwan condemned the drills as a provocation and a threat to regional peace and stability. It said it had deployed its own ships and aircraft to monitor the situation. Taiwan also urged the international community to support its democratic system and sovereignty. The United States has no formal ties with Taiwan but is its strongest international backer. It has expressed concern over China’s military activities near Taiwan and reaffirmed its commitment to help Taiwan defend itself. Drills occur amid escalating China-U.S. tensions, spanning trade, human rights, and more. The drills also marked a shift in China’s strategy towards Taiwan, which has been increasing its frequency and intensity of military exercises near the island since 2016, when President Tsai Ing-wen took office. #China #taiwan #militarydrill ************** Check out our related videos on UAE 👇 How Spyware Industry Continue To Thrive? | Carnegie Endowment Report | UAE, China, Saudi, Bahrain /watch/g8SRi3UCMXaCR China's Xi Jinping visit to Riyadh is about more than Saudi-US Relations /watch/Mq0tHq1DgI0Dt US-China Tensions: Xi Jinping Warned Biden not to “Play with Fire” on Taiwan /watch/0OS-5jaJj-XJ- China's XI JINPING Riyadh trip seeks to exploit Saudi-US tension /watch/c7GP0fl48RZ4P China hires social media influencers to shape positive image ahead of the Winter Olympics 2022 /watch/0wdw_70kDjYkw China is helping Saudi Arabia to develop ballistic missiles /watch/8pCqSaQLcjWLq China's XI JINPING Riyadh trip seeks to exploit Saudi-US tension /watch/c7GP0fl48RZ4P ************ Subscribe to the channel @worldify.
