“I got lucky because some people don’t make it out of this.” Tierra Allen stated correctly as she explained her freedom from detention in Dubai. When Allen returned from her first visit to Dubai in September 2022, she came with a dream to start her own trucking business in the Arab city. Like most of the tourists, Allen was instantly smitten by Dubai’s extravagant lifestyle. In April 2023, she returned only to allow her bubble of illusion to burst. A minor fender bender left her dreams of moving to Dubai dashed. Allen and her friend got arrested for not having a physical driver’s license. She was released as she was only a passenger. But, her personal belongings like phone, wallet and passport were missing. The police informed that her things were in the car, which was returned to the rental agency. That’s when she became a victim to the most common scam in Dubai. At the car rental agency, she was asked to pay $5,000 to acquire her stuff. She was told it was their protocol, but wasn’t convinced. As she tried push back, the agency’s employee become “very aggressive” and loud with her. Allen raised her voice back at him too and walked out. To her surprise, the employee chased her outside, and called the police. She said: “Thinking that you can stand up to them and talk back to them, they don't allow those things.” She got arrested again for “shouting at the rental car agency” She was released later, but the authorities put a travel ban on her. The car rental agency raised the amount from $5,000 to $10,000. With the help of Radha Stirling (Founder of Detained in Dubai), Allen was able to get freedom. She retrieved her stuff without paying anything, but paid $1,300 to get the travel ban lifted. Allen’s experience left her in deep depression and changed her life forever. She had been coping with the traumatic experience, reminding herself: “That's just things that happened in the past, and I'm free now." Several tourists traveling to Dubai often become a victim to baseless arrests and travel bans. While Tierra Allen got freedom, many remain in the dark rooms of Emirati prisons forever. ************** Check out our related videos on Dubai Instagram culture 👇 UAE's double standards and strict laws endanger tourists /shorts/VfhHBzaOqAw UAE's double standards and strict laws endanger tourists /shorts/VfhHBzaOqAw UAE Arrests Dubai Influencer: 5-Year Sentence for Viral Satire /shorts/KvVJCCnAlVo Dubai Holiday: Ended With Traumatizing Three-Month /watch/YQm5HnokQVYk5 The dark side of Dubai: Instagram influencers are modern-day prostitutes /watch/QqevYbWeLBKev Dubai: A Hidden Face Of Influencers' Paradise | Expo 2020 | UAE Whitewash /watch/4eue-2n59lV5e Dubai Prostitution - Ukrainian women are being trafficked into the UAE as sex slaves /watch/UhJES9YQDeGQE Dubai: A Safe Haven for Drug Cartel, offering shelter to the criminals evading US sanctions /watch/8by5lR-crK2c5 Dubai Porta Potty scandal achieved the new low | Influencers glamorous life exposed /watch/czSeQ-mGYMzGe Dubai Migrants Abuse: Talabat food delivery drivers stage rare strike /watch/caivZ-sMrvTMv The Real Housewives of Dubai Series display sunny side | UAE's women have luxuries, but not freedom /watch/UUaLAElOTEFOL UAE LGBTQ+ Intolerance: French influencer files complaint after being expelled from Dubai /watch/MqDqTqKksqgkq BBC's Inside Dubai: A documentary that ignored human rights abuses /watch/0ra-HQ6Rb0ZR- Dubai: A Hidden Face Of Influencers' Paradise | Expo 2020 | UAE Whitewash /watch/4eue-2n59lV5e Mohammed bin Zayed’s UAE Tolerance Drive Continues to Exclude LGBT Community /watch/88jsEBaNuN-Ns ************** Subscribe to the channel "Worldify" /channel/UCX1Cm3wuNbfTLeLz8TWb6jw/
