Two Newark Police Associations Join in Solidarity in Honor of George Floyd

The Newark Bronze Shields, an African American Police Officers’ association, along with the Hispanic Law Enforcement Society of Essex County and the Newark Police Softball Team joined in solidarity against police brutality and in honor of George Floyd. Members of each group participated in dedicating a wreath to a memorial set up at Newark Police Headquarters. A wreath was also donated by the Portuguese Police Association. Newark Council Members in attendance were Carlos Gonzalez, LaMonica McIver, Luis Quintana and Anibal Ramos, Jr. The police associations and softball team were joined by community members and Rosalia Clegg, mother of the late Newark Police Lieutenant Michael Clegg, who died on May 10th due to complications due to Coronavirus. Attendees pledge to stand against police brutality and all took a knee in honor of George Floyd.
