Hello Makers and Welcome to the EarthtonesGirl Channel, My name is Denise and this is my space to share, inspire and encourage in my earthy tone of voice. The Sock Shortys will be a series of short video tutorials on various topics relating to sock knitting. For example, washing socks, using sock blockers, stitch markers and progress keepers, etc. I will also be covering how to customize your socks by way of gauge, different cast ons, texture patterns, heels etc. My goal for this series is to empower the not-so-new-anymore sock knitter to take things to the next level, increase their skills and continue on their sock knitting journey with confidence. I demonstration two ways to knit it and how to maintain spacing between the stitches to create a stretchy edge. METHOD 1 uses the standard 1 handed technique but emphasizes thumb and index finger placement to create consistent spacing between the stitches. METHOD 2 uses a 2 handed approach to provide more control over the stitches and a slower pace to create wide enough spacing between the stitches to avoid a tight cast on edge.
