It's about time we had a fresh face in our video tours, meet Andy, one of our talented cabinet makers. Watch till the end to see a special cameo appearance from Jason…. or don’t…. It's hard to unsee it once you’ve seen it 🤣 The “Kahurangi Koinga” Tiny House (meaning Blue Point), is named after the ancestral family land on which it now sits. The family came to Build Tiny in search of a Tiny House suitable for a couple and two young boys. They worked with Gina to create something to suit their off-grid site. They have an extensive solar setup with a clever generator that automatically kicks in when the batteries get too low. The layout was heavily influenced by the client's needs and was loosely based on the Millennial Tiny House with the bathroom and kitchen at opposite ends and two lofts. They also decided to go with a fixed staircase, a large fireplace with wet back for hot water heating, a generous bathroom/laundry with custom shelving and a composting toilet with urine separator. In the kitchen, there are beautifully finished plywood benchtops, a clever ladder designed by the client, and barriers to both lofts - also designed by the client. The house features an outdoor shower and a large solar system to get maximum power collection from the roof. Making the most of the small space was really important to the family. There is recessed shelving in the walls and floor, and vertical space-saving ideas scattered throughout the home. Fittings for hanging plants, a hammock, and a laundry pulley rack were added to the ceiling in the lounge space.  For information including pricing, plans photos etc check out our website https://www.buildtiny.co.nz/kahurangi-koinga-tiny-house
