# Making (Renegade) History with Thaddeus Russell Episode Webpage: https://blackbird.substack.com/p/bb11-making-renegade-history-with Anyone who’s listened to this podcast knows I’m a huge fan of Thaddeus Russell. Nearly every episode has some mention of his name. He’s been extremely influential on the way I see the world. Over the years, I’ve been Thad’s student, his critic, his teacher, his employee, and, I think, his friend. This was a deeply personal conversation for me, in other words. I know I have a tendency to become a fanboy. I love people who make me think. Very few people have made me think more than Thad. His weaving of history, philosophy, psychology, and just the insatiable curiosity with which he lives his life have really hit me. I’ve driven many hours to meet up with Thad, spent hundreds of dollars to learn from him, and gotten into many arguments with his supporters and opponents alike, sharpening my blade of reason. This chat touches on every subject you’d want from an interview with Thad Russell: Relationships, recovery, empathy (and why Thad is skeptical that empathy exists), history, community, and (of course…) postmodernism. Toward the end of the episode, Thad mentions an event taking place at Buck Johnson’s place in March. Unfortunately, this event had to be postponed due to the city’s covid restrictions. The hope is to reschedule it for the autumn of 2021. I’ll of course keep you posted on that! Please enjoy this interview with Thaddeus Russell. ## Thad Links There are a handful of seats left for the 3D printing course being taught by Ctrl+Pew next month. This has been the top-selling course in RU history, so get in while you can! https://blackbirdpodcast.com/renegade I mentioned my favorite episode of Unregistered toward the beginning. It’s the interview with Swami Prem Niren, who was chief legal counsel for Osho. You’ll recognize him from the fabulous Netflix documentary Wild, Wild Country, which I also recommend. http://www.thaddeusrussell.com/podcast/53 If you haven’t read Thad’s book, A Renegade History of the United States, you should definitely fix that character flaw. It’s so good I gave it away as a Christmas gift. https://amzn.to/3soOgsv Sponsor BeYou Enterprises invites you back to your own body. His postmodernism course is available on replay now. Check out the other offerings to enroll in current and future courses. I think you’ll be particularly interested in what’s coming up in March, a course with CTRL+Pew. https://blackbirdpodcast.com/renegade ### Liberty Classroom I’ve renewed my Basic Membership to Tom Woods’s Liberty Classroom so many times that I finally just sprung for the lifetime Master Membership. I recommend you do the same. You’ll get unlimited access to courses on history, economics, political theory, logic, and even literature taught by liberty-loving professors from colleges and universities around the world.
