This minivan slide out bed has survived several cross country trips. Simple is always better, and I think you'll find this MUCH easier to build than others you may have seen. As built: Qty 1 = 8 Foot 2x4 Qty 3 = 8 Foot 2x2 Qty 8 = 8 Foot Furring Strips Qty 60 = Drywall Screws, 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inch Qty 20 = Drywall Screws, 2 1/2 or 3 inches I'm NOT a master craftsman by any means, but if you want to be more like Bob Vila, you'll find his Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/bobvila You'll find the BudgetTravelGuy facebook page here: https://tinyurl.com/qqdx8lg My original Minivan Build Out Video: /watch/ALDiMkILDcuLi - Basic Minivan Camper Build Other Recent Vids: /watch/oxphJqQbQw1bh - 4 Small Problem Solvers /watch/84YvnaigUusgv - $$ What is a Digital Nomad /watch/km-Tg6ZTwxDTT - Why Is Elvis Brother Buried In Mississippi? /watch/gPGAk_MCwDjCA - Police Encounters and Van/RV Life /watch/ow1n7bgSuugSn - 3 Things EVERYONE should carry on trips /watch/ssLvC2GFzcUFv - eBay - 3 More Small Items To Sell Traveling /watch/0YjDpr8wyAcwD - First Campsite Destroyed By Hurr Laura /watch/891u-fOvyvavu - Making $$ from eBay On The Road /watch/Mh3CXlLPlT2PC - Problem Solving (This guy is a genius) /watch/kJAHcx61UHI1H - You can visit Elvis Childhood Home for free /watch/sMvlLGknHuhnl - Van Life vs Car Life (cross country trips) /watch/MWUrNSccnAlcr - 4 Reasons To Carry A Bicycle In Your Van /watch/0Yk1McnXjmuX1 - McRib Recipe (If you need a laugh) /watch/olhnPJ4YQdyYn - You could have owned a flying motorhome! /watch/AJJtijspejFpt - State Parks adding non-resident fees /watch/Q5FIH1u-a_N-I - You CAN have a flush toilet in your van /watch/IU3nOGJO2L7On - Old Fire Extinguishers Tested (No Fluff) Review Videos /watch/cAbm4wg80LR8m - Blender to make smoothies on the road! /watch/oitgnJOPp8SPg - Camping chainsaw (battery powered) review /watch/0Byq937CIfICq - Cheap cupholder solution for older vans BudgetTravelGuy is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. @lucyf66134 years ago My boyfriend built this using kevin' s design. It' s really comfortable, easy to go from single to double. Very practical. I highly recommend it.

@beachbum98694 years ago Kevin, gotta say, this video almost put me to sleep. Just kidding. Your build is exactly what i am thinking of doing in my build. I have a 93 or 95 id="hidden4"6x12 wells cargo trailer. The structure is in almost mint condition. The paint however has faded almost completely away. It is now the color of galvanized steel. Thanks for sharing. Have fun, stay safe and stay healthy. ...Expand

@samanthadodd81124 years ago Thanks for this video. When i get a van, i' m going to do mine to pull out length wise. I don' t need one as long. This video was a big help, i was a bit intimidated by the thought of it. 1

@LuckyDawgProductions4 years ago Great video, kevin. Thanks for showing us how you built the bed for your mini-van. Nice that it can be for a single mattress, or opened up as a bed for two. Good job, kevin.

@monnaprovost72944 years ago You make it seem so easy! Therefore im ur newest subscriber! I am estatic that i found ur channel now that im about 6 months out from taking a trip aro id like to purchase a basic drill & saw that run on batteries. Can u recommend which types i should consider that would be good for all around drilling & sawing tasks starting with this bed frame? I always hear about ryobi brand bc the 1 battery can be used on compatible tools & even in a fan. I plan on getting that fan anyway as its rated better than other portable fans. I am a senior female thats never built anything but im willing to try.
i will bring my tools with me to use for other projects on the road. I just might want to add a 2nd room by towing a lil cargo van around like a weeroll or similar lightweight one. Thx for your videos & have some more great travels. Mo in nj

@lindasue87194 years ago Hi kevin, i wonder if you or any of your viewers would know of a resource where one can find the length and width of the cargo area in minivans (or suv) or, if you or anyone happens to know which minivan or suv has in particular the longest area behind the back seat to the tailgate. For minivans i' m getting the impression it' s the toyota sienna. I' m also considering switching to a larger suv than i' m in right now, so i' m wondering about the lengths of those, too.
i figured the cargo area of a suburban would be really long, since they look so huge, but on one video it sounded like it wasn' t a whole lot longer than my dodge journey.
    thanks!

@robn.59324 years ago Kevin, thanks for the video. What kind of mattress do u use and where did you get it?

@gregs2503 years ago It seems like when the bed is configured for two there are some large openings between the slats. Does that affect the comfort for sleeping?
